Welcome

Welcome to the Rambling Wino!

I’ve always been fascinated by the word ‘wanderlust’. It is true that I have an intense longing to explore, but the definition of wandering is characterized by Merriam Webster as “slow or pointless movement, not keeping a rational or sensible course.” This definition never set well with me, I am not known for doing anything slow or pointless. Since I was very young, I wanted to explore other cultures and languages, learn new things and see all that I could. Traveling, exploring, hiking, and drinking wine are what gives my life purpose. They are not frivolous actions, they are a large part of what gives my life meaning, what makes this world worth living, and what I want to be remembered for doing. The intense need to explore is ever present in my life and is anything but pointless, it is what drives me.

Welcome to me, my blog, and to my explorationlust. This is my journey to experience all that I can one step and one glass of wine at a time.

Lisa

Cheers! Salud! Santé!

Hello! My name is Lisa. I was born with a deep need to learn new things and explore who I am through experiences. I love food, have a passion for wine, and am my happiest self in the outdoors or exploring a new place. You can find me in a fancy restaurant wearing my heels and a cute dress or out hiking with my dog. Rambling for me is hiking, wondering around this world, and chatting your ear off in person or providing verbose blog posts!

I am from California and currently live in San Francisco bay area. This means I am blessed to have access to great wines and wine regions such as Napa, Sonoma and Paso Robles. I lived in the UK for 5 years, and in that time I traveled around Europe as much as possible. It was during this time I fell in love with Portugal and Portuguese wines and was exposed to so many other amazing wine regions and wines. I continue to travel as much as possible for myself, and I do a fair amount of travel for work. I am hoping to share with you what I have learned from the places I have visited, the wines I have imbibed, and possibly even give my take on what to do and what to miss. I am want to share my passion with you and hopefully help you plan your best trip and drink the best wine along the way!

I have a deep passion for wine that started 17 years ago with dessert wines, and now I’m loving really big, bold and tannic reds. I drink white, red, and everything in between and the weather as well as the food I am eating dictate what is in my glass. I don’t care about price point or reputation just good wines. What is the wine I think you should drink? The answer is the kind you like! I’m currently taking WSET courses, because I’m a nerd who loves to learn and I want to be able to better understand what it is I am drinking and to share fun bits of knowledge with you and my friends! Wine for me is the ultimate exploration and learning experience. When learning is combined with my love of wine and travel, and even better my friends, the world is perfect.

Whenever I can, I travel with friends and the little love of my life, my dog Indy (aka Lord Indy), and I hope you enjoy meeting them through this blogging journey.
